I'm back again spewing more random thoughts with y'all. I hope you'll stick around to listen as this is a subject I'm super passionate about!
If you follow me on Instagram, you've seen that we are going on a grand new adventure! This time to a destination called parenthood! We are ecstatically awaiting the arrival of our TWINS early next year! We hope to teach our new little loves all sorts of things, especially the joy of travel. However, sometimes life & traveling can be scary, particularly with recent events like the shooting in Las Vegas. You may have seen this post I shared after learning about the horrific events in Vegas. And today I want to expand on that blurb, and share what I hope to teach our new additions and how traveling can help!
One of the most important lessons I hope to teach our babies is to live fully & wholeheartedly even when life is hard and the world is scary. I've heard a lot of people say they want to lock their kids away in these recent times. When we lock ourselves away, we are doing the world a disservice. We have to teach them good, and set them out into the world to make it a better place and to find the good that is out there. By pressing through the hard times and bringing out the best in ourselves and the world, we can make it a much better place. On that note, we have to go out and live fully and do good for those who lost the chance far too soon.
Secondly, not to contradict what my dad has always said, but the world is full of such good! I spent my teen and early adult years thinking the world was far to bad to take the risk of exploring it. But once I let go of that fear, I realized that if you set out to find good, you'll find good! Sadly, the opposite is also true, so for me I choose to look for the good in the world. To build upon that, I do my best to share that good with others. Whether it is highlighting something wonderful I see on social media or volunteering or donating to worth causes, doing and sharing the good are oh so important. I firmly believe that we should use our gifts for the greater good. I share my love & passion for travel to contribute to the greater good of the world.
I could go on and on about the things I hope to teach our children, but I'll end with this: Even in the face of danger, we are protected. Deuteronomy 31:6 tells us "Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you." We must learn to live freely in the Lord, while still staying aware of the evils around us, and I firmly believe that traveling helps teach us that. It has me anyway. I've also come to learn that you get the most out of life by actually LIVING IT! Not hunkered down in fear, but by living!
I hope to teach our babies this and more, and I know we can do so largely with the gift of travel. I hope you'll consider the same, even when the world can be a scary place. Just go out there, and find the good. I have a sneaky suspicion that if you seek you will find.
Indulge me today, will you? I have some random thoughts to share about why I love being a travel agent, and why I want to share the world with you.
Awhile back on Instagram I came a cross a post from Jessa Connolly about business. She shared a something that she'd heard, and it really struck me. "It's a business, but is a front for something much bigger." Now, Jessa's business is devoted to sharing the word of God, and that sounds like far from what I am doing here. However, I AM in the business of sharing the world of God!
One of my main reasons for becoming a travel agent was to share this great big beautiful world that God created for us. The more I've traveled myself, the more I've yearned to see more. I truly believe that God gave us this Earth to explore, and it is one of my greatest joys to share that, encourage others to travel, and show people that it is possible & attainable to travel.
And so, that is what this business is, a front for something so much bigger. It is not only my calling, my passion, my purpose, but it is my way of sharing God with others and leading them closer to the Lord. I know that since I have been blessed to travel more of this world, my relationship with God has strengthened & flourished. And that is my hope for others in traveling and making this my life's work.
Again, I thank you for indulging me in "listening" to my random thoughts. I hope you have a wonderful Sunday evening!
My, it has been awhile! I never intended on taking such a long hiatus from sharing details & tips on our trips, but life has just happened. It has been quite an eventful few months, and only going to get crazier! I'm going to let the photos do the talking to share with you where I've been, and what we've been up to.
Where I left off: our trip to NYC in December.
We enjoyed a wonderful week in the Big Apple! I got to explore things I didn't the first time,
enjoyed even more Broadway shows, and, of course, loved the Christmas spirit of the city!
At the end of last year/the beginning of this year, I started a new career.
I still work at the same place, but have been blessed with a position utilizing my degree.
Bonus: this amazing window & view!
Back in February, I went on a weekend crafting retreat. It was much needed creative & friend time!
Back in September, I got a new car with the plans to have it wrapped.
The wrap proof has been approved, and should be coming soon!
I have been working super hard with Discovereighng with Dana (outside of the blog),
and it has been showing! I am reaching goals I've set, and can't wait to see this venture grow!
Over Spring Break, me & a couple of work friends ventured to Memphis, Tennessee.
It was a BLAST! At the top of our list was to see Graceland. Accomplished!
This has been a long time dream for me & one of the other ladies,
and we were so excited to finally mark this off of our bucket list.
Early this month, I made the decision to let me Stampin' Up! business go for now.
I'll continue to create cards & scrapbook and use their wonderful products,
but for now I won't be a demonstrator anymore.
With everything going on, it just wasn't something I could keep up with any longer.
I am, however, looking forward to creating just for creating's sake.
Last weekend, we took a day to just be together, enjoy the weather, and throw our cares to the wind.
We enjoyed the day at the Heart of Texas Air Show in Waco where I got a killer sunburn.
I'll share more on the whole thing soon!
Discovereighng with Dana Travel now has published ads!
Starting this month, I have ads featured in the Central Texas magazines
Bliss Bridal Magazine & Modern Texas Living Magazine (formerly Bliss Lifestyle).
I'm excited for the collaboration, and can't wait to see how many more families/couples I can help!
Last, but more definitely not least as it is the most major thing going on in our lives right now,
we are saying goodbye to our home, in a big way!
Tomorrow she is slated to be burned down. #likewoah
For the past 6-8 months, we have been toying with our options regarding our home.
The foundation has been a continuous problem, even after leveling time & time again.
We were torn as to whether we finish our remodel, or start new.
After the kitchen sink pipe busting for about the 4th time, Lovely was done.
We made the final decision to tear down the house a couple of months ago,
and it has been a whirlwind since!
We finalized new house plans, moved into our shop apartment, formerly my craft studio, #hellodownsizing
and will begin building our new home within the next month.
We were a bit sad to have to had to make this decision,
but the more time goes on (problems arise with the old house), the happier we are!
We know this is going to be so wonderful for us, no more things breaking, no more house repairs,
just a beautiful new home, that is ours.
So far things have gone smoothly, we agree on most design elements, style, and look of our home,
and can't wait to get started on the new home!
We are truly ecstatic for our future with our new home!
As you can see things have been pretty wild around here, but I can't wait to see where life takes us!
Thank you for stopping by. I'll be back later this week with more on the air show in Waco and next week with Seattle.
Traveling for me has become a part of my life, a part of who I am even. There are a myriad of reasons why I love traveling, how it’s changed me, the way I live, and the way I think. Maybe you are on the fence whether or not you should take the leap and make the financial sacrifice, and I’m here to
Memories, not things and tangible possessions last forever. Moments are ever fleeting, but in our hearts and memories (and scrapbooking, for me) they last forever. Make those memories for yourself, for the ones you love. The good, the bad, the ugly, the utmost amazing, your travel memories will etched in your mind forever, and you will cherish the time you spend exploring somewhere new or even revisited forever!
Experiences & Education
Your life will be changed in so many ways when you travel to new places. You will develop a better understanding of the world, people, cultures, economies, all the ways the world and people work. You will undoubtedly have a deeper appreciation of nature, animals, and home. You will receive an education on the world, economics, even science and nature that you cannot get from reading a book at home. Employers and potential employers will view you as someone with an understanding or people and someone with experience in interacting with many, many different types of cultures and personality.
One of the top reasons I love to travel is it brings me so much closer to God and gives me a deeper appreciation and respect for the world. For me, it gives me a clearer understanding of Him, His purpose for me, and His love for me and the world. The more I travel, the less there is reason to deny Him—who else could create such an amazing and incredible world! It is so complex, yet so sumple. The more I see, whether it be untouched nature or vast cities, the more in awe of Him I am. Cities you ask? He created man, and all that man accomplishes is astonishing! He created man, so yes, even cities draw me closer to God.
Life is not meant to be lived in one place. Take a chance, buy the ticket, go where you’ve always dreamed of. What are you waiting to start living?!? Life is passing you by every day, stop dreaming, and start doing!
You don't have to be rich to travel. Think about all the purchases you make throughout the year. Those things break, go out of style, you tire of them and throw them out. So why not spend your hard earned money on something that will last forever!? Memories of extraordinary places. Take a little bit of money each paycheck, stash it away, and in a year turn it into something that will last you forever and bring you, your loved ones, and your life and unexplainable amount of joy! So what do you get from the money you spend on traveling? Memories, experiences, feelings education—it will be the best money you’ve ever spent, and you and your life will forever be richer.
I sincerely hope my top 5 reasons why you should travel the world now inspire you to get up and go! I can’t say enough that you will be a better, more understanding, more knowledgeable, happier person the more you explore the world. Thank you so much for stopping by today. May you leave itching to explore!
